Sagar (Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering) A comprehensive theoretical and experimental study is performed to improve existing Dynamic models of gas-lift valve performance. Experiments are conducted on a Teledyne Merla N-15R, 1 .5 inch, nitrogen charged, bellows operated gas-lift valve. Load rate tests are performed on the bellows of the valve, and empirical equations describing bellows behavior are developed. Quasi-one dimensional compressible flow theory for a convergent-divergent nozzle is used to develop and describe the theory of throttling and transition flow behavior. A model incorporating the bellows behavior model and convergent-divergent nozzle theory is developed. It predicts the throttling flow behavior of the gas-lift valve.
