Who We Are and What We Do
Founded in 1983 by Dr. Zelimir Schmidt, TUALP is an industrially sponsored academic research consortium. TUALP is technically and financially supported by several operators and service companies. Each member firm has one vote on the Advisory Board that meets every April and September to review the work in progress, and to help set priorities for future work. The meetings are held in conjunction with large industry meetings, such as the ESP Workshop and the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition.
TUALP is currently directed by Dr. Mauricio Prado, a faculty member of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at The University of Tulsa. Funds from membership fees are used to support graduate students who conduct the research for their master's theses or doctoral dissertations under the guidance of Dr. Prado. The funds also cover the operating expenses to conduct the research and to pay TUALP staff salaries.
